This qualification replaces the PTTLS qualification. It certifies you to teach at a nationally accredited standard and meeting the standard required by awarding / accrediting bodies to create, deliver and accredit your own beauty courses and be insured to provide beauty training.
This qualification can be completed in as little as 12-16 weeks but you have up to 12 months to fully finish the course. You will need a good understanding of basic computer skills to complete your coursework.

What this course covers
This course is suitable for those wishing to take their first step into teaching and will equip you with the skills and knowledge required to fulfil a teaching role. Ideal for those looking to progress into teaching within the 19+ age group within further education, colleges, workplaces etc. This course covers preparation, planning and basic course design. You will also gain teaching delivery skills and participate in micro-teaching sessions. Evaluation skills and techniques also form part of the course content. This qualification provides a sound introduction to teaching/training and is suitable for both experienced practitioners who would like to secure a professionally recognised qualification as well as those new to teaching. VTCT Level 3 Award in Education and Teaching (QCF) has replaced the previous PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) qualification.
During this qualification, you will cover the following units:

- The aim of this unit is to enable you to understand the role and responsibilities of a teacher in education and training and the relationship between different professionals within education and training.
- Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
- The aim of this unit is to enable you to understand and use inclusive teaching and learning approaches to meet the needs of learners. This includes how to create a learning environment that engages and motivates learners, and the planning, delivery and evaluation of inclusive teaching and learning. You are required to deliver a microteaching session and to evaluate your own delivery practice.
- Understanding assessment in education and training
The aim of this unit is to enable you to understand how different types and methods of assessment are used in education and training. This includes ways to involve learners in assessment and requirements for record keeping.
